Oil Paintings
This painting was inspired by the story of our Savior Jesus. On my visit of the St. Isaac cathedral in St. Petersburg, Russia last summer the mosaics of this temple were quite incredible. That moved me to paint it with the brush strokes that would remind me the little colorful pieces of glass and ceramic that I saw at that cathedral. With the wars all around us we need more messages of peace and I hope that this painting would inspire a sense of peace and calm.
This painting was inspired by the antient Russian icon called "Our Lady of Vladimir" that can be traced back to 1125. For many, The Lady Who Saves Russia is the most loved image of the Eastern Church.
Chekhov's introspective nature and unique personality inspired this portrait. His thoughtful expression suggests a deep search within himself, reflecting a sense of cold sorrow. The cool color palette and bare trees in the background enhance this emotional depth, capturing the essence of his literary spirit.
This painting was inspired by Christ Pantocrator icon of St. Katherine's Monastery, Sinai, Egypt It is an oldest known icon of Christ Pantocrator from 6th century.
The poetry of A. Block inspired me to paint this painting, as well as the original work by the K. Somov in 1907.
This is a portrait of the Greene Vardiman Black. Painted for commission.
This work was inspired by the writings of Fyodor Dostoevsky. My hope is that through this portrait viewer would be reminded about the great Russian literature and culture. The oil on a canvas is a classical medium and it fits perfectly the painting of the classical author. Also I like to bring the textures in to my work to underline the complexity, sophistication and age of the subject matter.
This painting was inspired by the old masters paintings. The goal was to explore the textures and the colors of the objects in the mixed light.
