Look out from the House Of Books across the Nevsky Avenue on to Kazan Sobor

We climb up on to the St. Isaac Cathedral's observation deck in the evening, 200 steps in several spans. The views were magnificent!

This is the Altar Piece of the Peter and Paul Church at Peter and Paul Fortress
The stature of Peter the Great at the Peter and Paul Fortress. With its tiny head and massive torso, it's hard to believe that this statue offers a true representation of Peter the Great, the founder of the Peter and Paul Fortress (and of St. Petersburg). According to sculptor Mikhail Shemyakin, however, it was based on the death-mask and wax figure of Peter kept in the Hermitage.
